144 Turns Weave a 20-Lobed Sphere

BEHIND THE WORK

Can two angular waves sculpt a sphere into a 20-lobed orb?

One continuous spiral makes 144 turns from the north pole to the south pole. A four-cycle wave across latitude and a five-cycle wave around longitude multiply together to push the radius inward and outward. Their 4 × 5 pattern creates the woven lobes visible in the completed form.

Artismathic turns equations into visual art—one function at a time.
